OUR BELIEFS

WHAT WE BELIEVE ON:

The Authority of Scripture

The Scriptures, comprising the Old and New Testaments, are the written Word of God, divinely inspired, inerrant, the true and trustworthy Word of God, the complete revelation of his will for the salvation of human beings, and the supreme and final authority for all matters of faith and conduct.

God

There is one true God,  omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. He is the creator, saviour, sustainer, judge and ruler of all things. God is infinite, perfect, holy, loving, and eternally co-existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-equal and co-eternal.

God the Father

God the Father is the creator, the infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. He, in His mercy concerns himself in the affairs of mankind. He hears and answers prayer. He saves from sin and death all who come to him through Jesus Christ.

                                 Jesus Christ, The Son

Jesus Christ is Lord and God, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, born without stain of sin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, infallibly taught, lived and is the Word of God from the beginning. As God the Son, He eternally existed without beginning in the Godhead. He freely gave up His position, humbled Himself, and became incarnate as a perfect, sinless man, truly divine, truly human yet one person, the crucified Messiah, the resurrected and ascended Lord, the only mediator between God and mankind. He will one day return to judge the world.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is fully God. He is the personal life-giving Spirit of God. He came forth from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Holy Spirit leads us to repentance and unites us with Christ through the new birth. He is the agent of regeneration and sanctification for believers in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit makes the presence of Jesus Christ real in believers. He teaches, comforts, guides, convicts, and enables believers to live in ways that honour God. He empowers believers for ministry. He indwells everyone who believes in Jesus Christ. The present and interactive ministry of the Holy Spirit continues to give all the Biblical gifts today.

Christ’s Atonement

The death of Jesus Christ on the cross was a penal substitutionary death for our sins. On the cross He defeated evil, died in our place, paying the price for the atonement of our sins and sickness. His substitutionary death and His bodily resurrection provide the only ground for justification, forgiveness, salvation and reconciliation with God for all who believe that He is the Son of God.

Christ’s Resurrection

Jesus Christ was bodily resurrected from the dead. He ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God. Christ’s resurrection is the first-fruit’s promise of the resurrection into eternity for all who believe in Him.

                                                Christ's Ascension

Jesus Christ bodily ascension to the Father, where He ever lives to make intercession for us. When Jesus ascended to the right hand of the Father, He gave gifts to mankind, some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers (Ephesians 4). These ascension ministry gifts are to mature and unify His people, help His people grow in intimacy with the Father and in the service of others, and advance His Kingdom.

Original Sin

Human nature derives from two historic persons, male and female, who were created in God's image from the dust of the earth, without the knowledge of good and evil. They were created perfect, but they sinned. The result of this is they plunged themselves and all humanity into sin, guilt, suffering, and death. Therefore all human beings are sinners by nature, as well as by choice. We believe that God, through Jesus Christ and by the Holy Spirit, regenerates those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord.

Salvation

Salvation is a gift which comes solely by the grace of God through faith alone in Christ.  Salvation comes by accepting and confessing Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God and the only Saviour, repenting of sin, asking Christ to forgive our sins and by inviting Him to live within us.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is often experienced subsequent to the New Birth. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit, or the infilling of the Holy Spirit, as it is poured out upon the believer, empowers, strengthens, comforts, and is usually accompanied by the manifestations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit ( i.e. knowledge, wisdom, discernment of spirits, miracles, faith, healing, prophecy, tongues , interpretation of tongues) in the believer's life. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit endues and transforms the believer to increasingly take on more of the nature of Christ.

Church

There is one true universal church comprised of all those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord and have been united with Christ becoming members of his body. Scripture commands believers to gather together to devote themselves to worship, prayer, fellowship, the teaching of the Word, serving one another, and reaching the world with the Gospel. The church is a tool in the hands of God for extending the Kingdom of God. Baptism and Communion are the ordinances of the church established by Jesus Christ. Under supportive leadership, members of the Church are to work together in love and unity. They are intent on the one ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ. The Church is first and foremost an organism, not an organization.  The Church is the living Body of Christ, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, Christ’s Bride working toward his return

Water Baptism
Baptism of believers symbolizes the believer's union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. It is a sign, to all, of the Gospel. It speaks of God’s grace towards a sinner in offering forgiveness and a new birth through Christ’s death and resurrection.
                                  Holy Communion
Communion is a continual remembrance of Christ’s death and the benefits we receive from His dying on the cross for us. The bread and the wine symbolise Christ’s Body broken and His Blood shed for us. Through the Lord’s Supper our faith is nourished and strengthened as we look back to the cross of our salvation, as we enjoy fellowship with our risen Saviour and his people, and as we proclaim his death until he comes again.
The Second Coming

There will be a literal, physical, personal, and visible return of Jesus Christ to the earth and the establishment of His Kingdom in its finality and fullness. There will be a resurrection of all people for the final judgment, bringing eternal blessing to the redeemed in a literal heaven, as well as endless suffering and eternal condemnation for the wicked in a literal hell.Only those who have Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and are born of the Holy Spirit are members of the Body of Christ and will spend eternity with Christ.
